Scoubidou Safety

In July 2004 German and Dutch research showed that Scoubidou Strings appeared to contain an excessive amount of phthalates which are a class of widely used industrial compounds known technically as dialkyl or alkyl aryl esters of 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid. There are many phthalates with many uses, and just as many toxicological properties.

Due to this there was a debate into the safety of Scoody doo strings and whether they should be sold as a childrens toy. However, there was no evidence to suggest that phthalates in Scoubidou strings could endanger children's health and if you have any concerns about the health and safety issues of the Strings then please visit this website www.phthalates.com as it contains some very useful information!
