Scoubidou Twist Stitch

The Scoubidou Twist Stitch is just two Circle Stitches side by side, we therefore highly recommend that you are comfortable with the Circle Stitch before attempting the Twist Stitch!

You will need:

  • Two strands of Scoubidou that are the same length
  • One Strand that is approximately 1 times as long as the first two
  • To find the centres
  • To begin the twist Stitch you need to have a starter Brick Stitch ready.

    1. Hold the Starter Brick Stitch in your hand. 2. Turn the stitch over and make sure it has a loop from one side to the other, in this case the loop is blue. 3. Take the scooby strand closest to you (blue) and flip it diagonally to the other side of the stitch (across the other blue scoubidou).

    4. Now grab the other end of the blue scoubidou and flip it diagonally towards you so the loops sit next to each other. 5. Now take one of the inner strands over the loop closest to it and under the second loop. I have used the purple scoubidou first. 6. Next pick up the other end of the same scooby (purple) and take it over the first loop and under the second.

    7. Repeat this action with the other colour scoobidou (red) taking the left strand over the first loop, under the second. 8. And again with the right side so that all four scoubidoo strands are woven in the loop. 9. Pull all the strands tight using both hands!

This is what causes the stitches to twist creating a circular appearance rather than the linear structure of the Brick Stitch.
    10. The finished stitch should look exactly like the brick stitch. 11. The project should look something like this when you have completed a number of stitches!

    Completion Stitch

    13. This completion stitch is exactly the same as the completion Brick Stitch. 14. Take each strand individually and place it round the scoubi strand to its left then up through the centre of the loose stitch. 15. When each scoobidou strand is pulled throught the centre you should see a knot begin to form.

    16. Pull the strands tight until the knot is secure and wont unravel! 17. Carefully snip off the ends using a pair of scissors.

    17. This is how the Twist Stitch should look when properly completed. The loop at the end you started with can be used to attatch to a keyring.
